A DAY LONG MINI CONFERENCE OF PAST PRESENTATIONS, PROJECTS AND RESEARCH
For many students conferences can be unfeasible to attend due to expense, geographic location, or scheduling conflicts. However, attending conferences is part of professional growth for both new and seasoned professionals. With the collaborative efforts of the UCLA Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Student Chapter, Los Angeles Archivists Collective (LAAC), UCLA Library, and the UCLA Department of Information Studies, Rewind & Hit Play brings together a selection of local scholars and professionals working in the field of media archiving to present work recently included in various conference programs that students may have missed.
Rewind & Hit Play is open to all MLIS students, UCLA Library staff, and librarians and archivists from all stages of their careers from outside the UCLA community. This event will be free to attend.

The UCLA Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Student Chapter is a professional organization that works to advance the practice of moving image archiving. The AMIA Student Chapter at UCLA was founded in 2000. It provides a social and intellectual forum for students interested in preserving, restoring, and providing access to moving image heritage. This includes, film, television, video, and digital formats. Currently, the students that comprise the chapter are pursuing the Media Archives Studies (MAS) track within the Library and Information Science Masters (MLIS) program. As young professionals in the archiving field, we advocate for the acknowledgement of moving images as important educational, historical, and cultural resources.
The Los Angeles Archivists Collective (LAAC) was founded in 2014 and currently includes a membership base of approximately 300+ archivists, librarians, students, information professionals, and others who have a strong interest in the archival field.
Inspired by community-driven organizations like The Archivists Round Table of Metropolitan New York (ART), Archivists of Metro D.C., and the The Women’s Center for Creative Work (WCCW), LAAC aims to bring the Los Angeles-area archives community together to discuss, collaborate, connect, and support each other.
